  Your files never leave your device. All processing happens locally in your browser using WebAssembly engines. We have no server that receives your documents — it is architecturally impossible for us to store them.

• Does it work without internet?

  Yes, the web app can be used offline once the initial page has loaded. Install it as a PWA from your browser for a seamless offline experience.

• What browsers are supported?

  PDF-Atlas works on all modern browsers — Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari (desktop and mobile). For the best performance, we recommend Chrome or Edge on desktop as they have the most mature WebAssembly runtimes.

• What file formats are supported?

  Primarily PDF files (.pdf). For image conversion tools we support JPG, PNG, and HEIC. Document conversion handles Word (.docx) and PowerPoint (.pptx). OCR works on scanned PDFs and image-based documents.

• Is there a file size limit?

  No hard limits. Because processing happens on your machine, it is limited only by your device's available RAM and CPU. Modern computers can easily handle PDFs well over 500MB.

• Can I process multiple files at once?

  Yes. Tools like Merge PDF, Image to PDF, and Organize PDF support batch processing — drop multiple files at once and the tool handles them together. Individual conversion tools process one file at a time.

• Why is processing slow on my device?

  Large files and OCR operations are CPU-intensive since everything runs locally. Closing other browser tabs and applications frees up resources. For very large documents, splitting the file first then processing each part is the fastest approach.
